SIN

Hebrew: "Khata"- miss the goal

The word sin comes from the Hebrew word Khata which simple means to miss the goal.

The truth is we have all missed the goal it takes to be in right standing with GOD, so we are all guilty of SIN.

For all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of GOD.

- Romans 3.23

Wages for SIN

For the Wages of sin is death -

Romans 6:23 a

A simple definition for a wage is, what is owed for an action.

For example a wage for work is money paid for a good or service.

In Kingdom terms what we are OWED for our sinful ACTIONS is DEATH...

Loved in our Mess

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: WHILE WE WERE STILL SINNERS, Christ died for us.

Romans 5:8

Love Displayed

Greater love has no one than this, that a person will lay down his life for his friends.

John 15:13

Grace

Hebrew:"Hen"- favor

This word is commonly translated as “favor,” which means acceptance and goodwill regardless of whether we've earned it. In other words, grace is undeserved favor. Grace can't be earned; it is something freely given to us by God.

-but the GIFT Jesus Christ our Lord.

Romans 6:23 b

Only ONE way

If you met a person in an airport, and throughout your conversation you found out that they were headed for Orlando, Florida . But when you took a look at their ticket it said they were about to get on a plane that was going to take them to Los Angles, California.

Would you tell them anything?

The Truth there are only 2 options on a final destination after this life and Jesus tells us how to get on the path that leads to HIM.

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

John 14:6

REPENT

The instruction ‘to repent’ has a very heavy connotation for most people. Defined as ‘regret’ or ‘being remorseful’, it sounds uncomfortable and dark.

The Hebrew word we translate as ‘repentance’ is teshuva. And teshuva is a lot more than a feeling of guilt or regret. In fact, it derives from the verb ‘to return’!

It is deciding to turn away from where you are headed and moving back toward God.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

1 John 1:9 -

Call on the LORD

Finally the LORD tells us to call on HIM, to put our faith and trust in HIM!

That if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Romans 10:9-11
